Back of the photo: The whole clan on the island — Mom, Dad, aunts, uncles, the little cousins. El Morro in the afternoon sun, piraguas in the plaza, cream-cheese pastelillos from a bakery counter, and a villa down the road from a lighthouse. The captions I wrote at the time say it best: “me being domesticated and shit,” “My beautiful momma,” “Love this photo.” First time back as an adult — the Menendez side of the map.
