Author’s Note: The Sovereign Song

These pieces are songs from one long story — a man who was handed the word “king” long before he was allowed to practise it, and what it took to build the real thing.

Because I believe we create our own meaning in life, a lot of my life is often viewed through a medieval fantasy lens.

I think I do this partly because of my ADHD and partly because I feel that sometimes it's easier to find meaning in life when it's looked at through the lens of a good story, and my favorite stories always featured dragons and wizards and knights.

I found comfort and purpose in looking at life through the lens of Becoming in the philosophical lens. Specifically the idea of a philosopher King (with my little home as my tiny kingdom).

I read some of the more positive ones to my sons so they can hear the story of their fathers life through a more approachable lens.
